A brief interview by IGN with Guillermo del Toro on his ideas for The Hulk TV series.
http://youtu.be/m3B9We2qgzU
As with anything else the man’s involved with, I’ll believe it when I see it. His finished work seems more rare than a convention appearance by Billy Dee Williams. The two always schedule stuff, but it’s rare when we see it happen. If del Toro is working on this, does this mean his Frankenstein project is dead and buried… you know, the one he opted to do instead of The Hobbit, which in turn cancelled his involvement with a potential Hellboy 3?
And quit dropping Jeph Loeb’s name already. As much as it pains me to say it, the guy hasn’t had a well-written story since Batman: The Long Halloween.
I want to say that Guillermo Del Toro is looking for an actor that’s only able to acted but that really looks just like the character from 1960’s Comic Book Cartoons and The Television Show Starring Bill Bixby Version so who would fit the role is First Choice is Edward Norton and Second choice is Danile Radcliffe from harry potter movie.
I would say Edward Norton is a Screenplay writer and a Director and Co-producer. Norton wrote The Incredible Hulk 2008 Film and didn’t get no credit for it. That’s why I ‘m reaching out to you about should play the lead of Bruce Banner and Edward Norton is the right person for the role.
I have a little change in my comments is intsead of Danillie Radcliffe a second choice change it to Chris Hardwick as Bruce Banner in New Hulk Tv Show.
Chris Hardwick looks like Edward Norton so thats why I want the producer Guillermo Del Toro, to choose between both actors norton, and Hardwick. To see if del toro could either pick Edward Norton or Chris Hardwick as the fourth actor for Bruce Banner.
I will say that the New Incredible Hulk TV Series will be about the television series classic of Bill Bixby, and more offen the marvel comics from 1980’s incarnation.
Marvel Television Jeoph loeb, and Producers Guillermo Del Toro, and David Eick needs to talk about either giving Edward Norton a conract to reprise the role as Bruce Banner first.
Or marvel television jeoph loeb could give chris hardwick a contract for Bruce Banner in New Hulk Television Series.
I will really say that Guillermo Del Toro and Marvel Television should give Edward Norton a conract to play Bruce Banner again with muilple Hulk TV films.
And Make sure that Del Toro check on jeph loeb marvel television to see if the incarnation matches the TV Hulk Lou Ferrigno, before going into pages, on working on the script. If jeph loeb comic book incarnation doesn’t match the TV Hulk from late 1977, then reboot the incarnation with another concept drawing from Marvel Comics issue# 255-265 thats from 1980’s version.
The old series was 34 years ago the new series has to appeal to a new generation, there’s no point in doing an adaptation of the Hulk that follows the old series but completely ignores the comics it would be like Judge Dredd removing his helmet or Constantine not having an English accent and blonde hair.
The New Incredible Hulk TV Series might could be popular if they cast the right person for Bruce Banner, and if the Hulk creation is insecpected the right way then the show will be really successful.
Doesn’t matter who’s plays Banner as long as he’s the right fit and so as the others characters as well like Betty, Rick jones, General Ross and Glenn Talbot.
It does matter who they should cast and it should be no surpise as it should be.
Have there be gamma mutants unleashed by the same accident that created the Hulk and not have him chased by a reporter but by military forces.
It’s comes both ways as they will be Chase by the report will be the same as the military chasing the Hulk.
Del Toro will reveal new Hulk series details at New York Comic Con on October 15.
What we know so far….
Jeph Loeb said the new series will have the love story between Bruce Banner and Betty Ross.
A rumor that the Red Hulk might be a main villain in the series which I think is too early for that.
The series will be set in the early years of the Hulk before everyone knew his secret.
Jeph Leob says that he like the old classics Television series with Bill Bixby so that’s what Leob wants to make Bruce Banner like Bill Bixby version of it.
Jeph Loeb Talks Hulk TV At New York Comic Con.
Loeb says that the Hulk will look “as closely as possible†like how he will look in the Avengers movie. “I’m very, very confident that the Hulk you’re going to see when we finally get on the air on ABC, is going to look like something other than us putting a lot of paint on Lou Ferrigno,†Loeb said today. As pilot casting starts happening early in the year, we’ll probably be hearing more soon.
It would be cool to have an Avengers episode some time in the series.
The Hulk TV Show will not be tied to the Hulk Movies Film its more like the original Television Show of the old classic means he’s not going to through tanks all around unlike the Hulk 3 Films. I will say its going to kick things around and damage walls like punching wholes through sheet rocks some thing like that.
Have you read any of what Loeb or Del Toro said about what the new series is going to be?, it will deal primarily with Bruce Banner and Betty Ross’ relationship and the Hulk looking like how he is in The Avengers.
Who wants the Hulk to just kick stuff around like furniture and damage walls?
The comics were all about Hulk vs the Military.
It’s not important to have a s@#!*y avengers epsiode.
Keep It clean. Honestly I don’t have the time to baby sit you guys. Don’t make me angry, you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.
Listen to Guillermo Del Toro who’s in charge of the Hulk creation because Del Toro its making sure the Hulk creation will look more real.
They will Cast a Better Bruce Banner in his mid 20’s unlike mark ruffalo Bruce Banner they getting some one like Ed Norton as fourth actor or they might ending up casting Norton for the role as the lead.
Loeb would be in on Del Toro’s plans for the series and wouldn’t be lying about it, I doubt that Del Toro will be a showrunner with a fanboy like faithfulness to the old series.
About it focusing more on the relationship between Bruce Banner and Betty Ross which makes it like Lois & Clark with the Hulk.
TV Hulk is going to have the same design and CG model from the Avengers to cut costs but not the same actor.
They will use rebotic and prosthetics mix with some CGI and puppetry.no fake muscales.
You could do some episodes were they’re building up to a hulk out near the end like Banner working on a cure in some hideout and the military comes in and all hell breaks loose.
It’s like the Cylons in Battlestar Galactica, in the original they were men covered in silver plastic in the new one they were CGI, David Eick probably is probably doing the same thing with the Hulk instead of bodybuilder painted green with shaggy wig they’re doing a CG green monster.
Could have it be like 24 or Prison Break with the main character being hunted by government forces and the Bruce and Betty love story would make it like The Fly or King Kong the series with a woman trying save the man she loves.
I think its a better idea to cast a Younger Bruce Banner in his mid 20’s which they cast someone that looks like Norton or cast Ed Norton.
I don’t think they need to ignor the homage of the Hulk TV Series, and is important to pay a Homage of the TV Series with Bill Bixby version.
Wouldn’t paying of a homage to the old series make it too much like nostalgia?
I don’t mind there being undertones of it.
Just like Starksy and Hutch was a Homage because it last alongtime too on the air in the 1970’s.
What about Battlestar Galactica it was different from the original and was not in the same style.
Marvel wouldn’t hire a showrunner acting like a fanboy to the old series.
By paying a homage to the old series your not making an adapation that is a different take on the character your making a hour long nostalgia for old folks not to 12 year old boys who haven’t seen the old series.
That’s important to pay a homage to a TV series.
Just treat the old series as the 1950’s George Reeves Superman show and the new series as Smallville.
Yes they will pay a homage of the Hulk TV Series because Jeph Leob said that He likes the live action Hulk TV Series will Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. And they Hulk New TV Series live action series will not fully CGI at all anymore, instead they will use Puppetry robotic prosethetics and some CGI.
I wrote Marvel Entertainment a Letter a said that they need a New Hulk TV Series and the should cast Edward Norton as Bruce Banner and Lou Ferrigno as The Hulk and the voice and marvel response and said they liked my suggestion Ed and Lou worked good together.
I bet they will do a homage of the old classic TV Series with Bill Bixby version of it.
Wouldn’t add anything different or new it would just prevent the new series from creating it’s own identity.
The New Hulk live action TV Series should cast as the First choice for the young Bruce Banner should be Edward Norton and young betty ross should cast Liv Tyler becasue he looks like betty from the comic book.
Let Del Toro do his own casting choices instead of just picking who’ve played the roles before.
The Incredible Hulk CG model with be the same special effect but different creation for the Hulk in The New Hulk live action TV Show.
The only reason they having a New Hulk Live action TV Series because the other live action Hulk Tv with Lou Ferrigno was very popular than the comic book.
Following the old series would just prevent the new series from doing a fresh take on the Hulk.
Del Toro did say he more inspired by the comic and wishes to make a Hulk TV series more like the comic book.
They were probably going to use prosthetics and puppertry to create the Hulk and now they’re using cgi from the Avengers.
It’s better for Del Toro and David Eick to do a different way to approach the character and having the series be solely a homage it would feel like it was made by a showrunner that didn’t know anything about the Hulk mythology except from what he knew from the old series.
My point is the old series was great for it’s time it’s well made, it’s well done most fans still hail it as the definitive version but it is necessary to move forward and make a live action version of the Hulk that is distinctive by coming up with a different way to present the character.
Like to see Banner/the Hulk fighting other gamma powered mutants in the series.
Not have the Hulk just fight crooks and thugs week to week have him fight gamma powered enemies like Smallville and Dark Angel.
I think that the idea for the series shouldn’t focus around the Hulk as we know it. I think they should change the concept to American Revolutionary times, were the Hulk is a patriot that got caught up in a freak meteor accident that gives him his powers. Instead of purple pants, they should be blue and he wears a powdered wig. In this story, Banner is in love with Betsy Ross, but it is unrequited as she’s married to John Ross.
Sorry for the bit of fun I was having, guys! I couldn’t help myself. Unfortunately the Hulk project died off due to Del Toro’s schedule. He’s got WAY too many irons in his fire and no time to complete a project like this. Maybe in future we’ll get another Hulk series, which I wouldn’t mind as long as they could do as they’ve done in Marvel movies and tie other heroes together. I would certainly like something like a Captain America tv show, or even Thor. Something that can explore the characters without making it over melodramatic. That’s a problem with any network these days. Even the comics tend to get bogged down with it.
Thanks for all your input guys. Keep coming back! The Green Goliath will next appear in Avengers, and I personally can’t wait to see!
The series is still going on Del Toro isn’t the only one doing it Battlestar Galactia’s David Eick is doing it as well.
Who wants to see a Hulk TV series thats a period piece?
Following the Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno TV series would be trying to pay a homage without any care of trying to do anything new or creative.
There’re alot of young actors and actresses on the way up they could end up getting the parts of Bruce and Betty in the new series.
My advice is Marvel Television jeph Leob mention that he’s going to make The Hulk live action television series with mixture of robotics puppetry and prosethetics.
The New Hulk TV Series should be added with same people from the Movies like Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, William Hurt, Tim Blake Nelson, Ty Bruell.
jeph leob mention that he knows that there are Edward Norton fans out there and Eric Bana Fans too, but the only person that jeph leob likes the most is the Bruce Banner along time was the late Bill Bixby thats what Jeph Leob wants to do another New Hulk TV Series and probably will be based on the old classicTV Series like l’ve mention before.
The Incredible Hulk ran for 5yrs in CBS and NBC For 3yrs altogether is 8yrs. So because if it wasn’t for the old classic Tv Series then they wouldn’t been no Hulk Films or TV series.
Now the only person thats living right now is Lou Ferrigno and Kenneth Johnson the former producer of The Incredible Hulk.
They need to have Kenneth Johnson take part of consaulting the New live action Hulk Tv Series.
Jeph Leob is a old school writer and he know how to created character very good as a CEO marvel Television I think he wonderful man than Marvel Studios Kevin Fegie.
Del Toro has said he wants to give his own personal spin on the story.
Del Toro has turned in the pilot screenplay to the network and waiting for a greenlight.
“We delivered the screenplay to the network. I have a very specific idea of how to do it, and we’re waiting for the green light. We know all the iterations of the Hulk pretty good. We’ve read all the essential stories, and we’re then riffing on that. There are so many incarnations and ideas. Jeph Loeb  who did a good run [on Hulk: Grey]  is involved, and I love Peter David’s Hulk. But there’s really no part in that mythos that we don’t know, so we are trying put our own personal spin on it”.
Del Toro doing his own take on the Hulk will keep things new and fresh.
we are not watching a cartoon Film at all we are watching something more real and the CGI Hulk is not the answer to people problem at all. So what Hulk Fans what is Lou Ferrigno as The Hulk instead of Full CGI.
The Incredible Hulk New TV Series will be a good plot and just like the orignal plot so Don’t be a thinking you know everything because you don’t.
Marvel Television Doesn’t want CGI at all he wants more prosthetics and Robotic involve beside CGI.
They said that about a year ago they might changed their minds about it now they say they’re reusing the Hulk from the Avengers.
Don’t forget they need Lou Ferrigno play the Hulk in the New Hulk live action Television through motion capture like Lou said on you tube macDonnell watch it on my website again so you’ll understand that.
They need to do more expection on the motion capture with the CGI by itself they need Lou Ferrigno to play the Hulk because he’s more suitable for the role that some fake Hulk.
Ferrigno is 60 years old now he’s too old to play the Hulk the last time he did play the Hulk in live action was 20 years ago.
Don’t forget to watch Hulk on TV with the original played by Lou Ferrigno, and Lou mention they should him instead of CGI because CGI is so expensive its not human you can’t replace Humans.
They will have Lou Ferrigno at the comic-con next year and I’II see him next year on the upcoming events in wizarld world in August 2012.
Del toro has recently said he’s going to put his own persoonnal spin on the Hulk so his Hulk would completely different from Lou Ferrigno because he has a different idea on how he wants to present the character.
The new series has to be a new take on the Hulk then the old series which was just the Hulk fighting criminals otherwise people are just going think “oh I’ve seen this before, they’ve been there and done that”.
I think it’s likely they’ll cast television actors so that the producers don’t have to pay movie star salaries, thats why they didn’t have Kurt Russell or James Spader for Stargate SG1.
The reason that Kurt Russell and James Spader didn’t reprise their roles for SG-1 was a lot more serious an issue than money. The sad fact is that they weren’t CONSIDERED to reprise their roles. When the show was started it was meant to be a semi-sequel to the movie. That means that they’d have some of the same concepts, but that they weren’t going to follow everything to the letter. Best examples, Ra is a Goa’uld, there are now Jaffa, O’Neill has a son named Charlie and he spells his name with two ‘L’s. Not to mention a host of other changes that were cosmetic and more direct. The only two that got brought over from the films directly were Skarra and Kasuf. Let’s face facts, there wasn’t that much of a change personality wise to them.
So yeah, I’m gonna bet if they’re going to go through with this TV show, it’s gonna have TV actors. I don’t think Mark Ruffalo is going to put in an appearance. And as the argument has been, from you and Gilberto, that they’re going to take it in a non-film direction… well, I suppose that means that they’ll try and make sure NOT to associate it as much as possible. They’re slightly shooting it in the foot already, if all the rumors are true, that they’re going to be using the CG version from Avengers anyway.
Nice try with the argument, but we’re SG-1 Country here.
Having a new cast is more likely because Del Toro and Eick would want to do their own creative blueprint and would be separating themselves from previous live action Hulk TV and movie adaptations.
Having the same cast from the 2008 film would be hurting the project by staying put instead of moving forward.
Doesn’t matter if that actor looks like Bill Bixby thats just casting for appearance over quailty just because that actor looks like the Bixby Banner doesn’t mean he can act it or have the acting chops to deliver it.
Just #*!#ing cast a good actor who looks the character not some Bixby lookalike.
Watch the language, this is a family site, and I don’t have all day to monitor you.
Having a new cast is just a way to separate the new series from previous live action Hulk TV and movie adaptations.
They said last year they were going to do the Hulk using prosthetics and puppetry with a mix of CG now they say they’re reusing the CG Hulk from the Avengers to cut costs.
A similar thing happened with the 2008 hulk film were they planned to have prosthetics and puppetry with a mix of CG but went with full CG Hulk.
David Eick is probably going do the Hulk the same he did Battlestar Galactica, the 2004 Battlestar was completely different from the original because he had a different conception on how he wanted to presented it,updating it for a new generation by putting on a different style.
The new series has to be a television reboot it has nothing to do with the movies because it’s a different medium.
Del Toro said he’s trying to put his own personal spin on the character and he said that the new series will have no movie connection.
Del Toro said also that he’s inspired by Peter David and Jeph Loeb’s work.
Fighting crooks was the same thing every episode in the old series, it was fine for it’s time but it wouldn’t work today.
Monster of the week seems to be up Del Toro’s alley.
Wow… you two have really gone around and around on the exact same points.
Got that right!
Have Rick Jones be in the series because he was never used in either of the Hulk movies.
The pilot is said to be airing soon after The Avengers in the pilot season and first season in the Autumn.
They are sort of waiting for the Avengers to come out in May to start casting and production on the Hulk series.
Del Toro said back in November that he delivered the pilot script to the network and now waiting for a greenlight, perhaps in the next few months we should be hearing news about a new hulk cast and plot details.
If the series happens it is likely they’ll go with an entirely new cast.
I know they will cast a younger Bruce Banner in his mid 20″s brillant like Bill Bixby and Edward Norton.
And behind that they will be doing a Incredible Hulk 2 movie with Edward Norton said Gale Ann Hurd, and norton is under the contract to reprise the role as Bruce Banner and at the same time the producer wants to make another one that will see norton return.
And Marvel has not rule a second Hulk Film with Edward Norton reprising the role.
They will cast the right actors for the New Hulk TV series that look like Bixby and Norton.
Lou Ferrigno is never to old to play the Hulk at all, number one number two is that is he will playing the Hulk in the Incredible Hulk 2 with Edward Norton returning back to the role as Bruce Banner.
It doesn’t matter if the new Banner looks like Bixby it’s their performance that’s matter’s, it not likely they’ll go with a Bixby look alike because they’ll have different conception on they want to present the character.
It does matter because there’s actors out there that need to bring a suitable role to and that looks like Bruce Banner.
There has been no news about a new hulk movie in the works for three years.
And don t forget that Lou Ferrigno is still a big guy,and making another movie called the Liberator when Lou Ferrigno kicking butts and prove to the whole antire world that he still the Incredible Hulk. And Lou works out every other day by lifting heavy weighs like benching 450lb pounds.
Casting another actor in the role is a tough decision, some people are afraid of that, some people find replacing a cast of actors a negative because they’re not the people they fell in love with, some people may be skeptical about a new Bruce Banner and Betty Ross, some people may be open minded about it because there’ve alot of different interpretations of the Hulk over the years.
Its alright but I know alot about who to cast, than other people in the marvel studio, because I will be going to New York sometime soon. And go to Marvel Entertainment Studio and tell them about who they should cast for Bruce Banner in the New Hulk TV Series.
Del Toro has been busy with other projects like Pacific Rim and what about David Eick he’s in on it too and he is doing the Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome TV series.
Kevin Feige said just recently there are no plans for another solo Hulk movie so that probably means we’re getting Hulk TV in the next couple or few years with another Bruce Banner and Betty Ross.
Because The Hulk in the movies is so exsensive thats why they move the Hulk From the Big Screen back to Television. That was a good move they made by Marvel Entertainment Television jeph leob.
Simplify the Hulk effects maybe the only solution because making a TV series is not the same as making a movie because of time and budget constraints. A green muscle suit would be Del Toro’s alley because he likes practial and make up effects, would be like Hellboy were they put Ron Perlman in a red muscle suit and make up, there was a Hulk suit in the alternate ending of Scary Movie 3 but that was a comedic representation of the character, a hulk suit would be like the Hellboy make up or the Doomsday Smallville make up. Would be interesting if they go that route have Banner and the Hulk be played by the same actor.
They will make the New Hulk on TV next year with a prosthetic green muscle suit with a prosthetic green mask with a thick prosthetic green eye bows and green wig.Like that little boy was dressed in a green suit like Lou Ferrigno in the commercial about the Avengers 2012.
The Avengers movie has created the possibility for a new Hulk movie, in 2015. They say if the Hulk success continues, Marvel will spin him off to a stand alone TV series next year supported by a big budget franchise movie in 2015.
There was no anouncement back in January that it was greenlit so they might greenlght it next January which is the time of the year were pilots and TV shows get greenlit.
Because of the success of The Avengers they hope now to have a another solo Hulk movie by 2015.
Updates are not predictions things are liable to change.
I know that Mark Ruffalo signs a six movie picture deal means that he’ll be doing only three more Avengers films and two more cameo only.
Sure and all the other characters in The Avengers and their solo movies were not played by two separate actors simultaneously, so thats means that Mark Ruffalo might do a Hulk movie of his own.
I just heard that it maybe in develpment for 2013-14 season but Jessica Jones is stalled.
Because of the success of The Avengers they decideed to fast track it.
Ruffalo has been praised universally for his performance and is set to star in a Hulk sequel for 2015.
They will be a Incredible Hulk 2 coming in 2015 which will tie to the New Hulk TV series standalone program in 2013. And Mark Ruffalo said that he’s not contraced in the standalone Hulk program following by a Hulk Sequel movie.
Think it’s obivous that it going to be a different actor on television.
If there’s gonna be a new Hulk movie and a TV series simultaneously would have to be two different storylines and possible a Marvel TV universe.
The Hulk is coming in 2013, ABC thought they’ll have it ready for this year but didn’t turn out that way. Because of the success of The Avengers they probably decided to fast track it. They passed on Jessica Jones.
Del Toro has been busy with Pacific Rim and now has Pinocchio and Beauty & the Beast possibly lined up right after it, so would he have time to do a Hulk TV series?.
Think with Del Toro involved he’ll make it more of a monster oriented series?
I believe that the New Hulk TV Series 2013 will be part of The Incredible Hulk 2 2015 sequel to the 2008.Its said so in a article I read.
We don’t until we see it.
Heres a link to the new series on Internet movie data base saying it will not tie into the Marvel movie continuity http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2368139/
Thank you for the information about the New Hulk TV series will not tie to the Marvel Unverse Movie or The Avengers 2012.
It doesn’t matter if it’s connect to the Marvel movie universe we know all the Hulk mythos.
Del Toro has said that his vision of The Hulk will be entirely separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Hulk http://www.comicbookmovie.com/hulk/news/?a=64151
