If you’ve listened to the Podcast please leave a comment here, we are certainly open to any ideas to improve it.
Although I did respond back to the podcast through email, I wanted to post here my congrats to you guys for putting this out. It was nice to hear all of your thoughts on SG:U, Doctor Who, and such. A lot of them mirrored my own, but then we’ve discussed such things at length before.
The changes that I thought should be made was a shorter intro with less sound effects and not introducing each topic by a voiceover. The conversation all of you were having was coming across clearly, and it interrupted that flow. But as SciFiJunkie said, it was a rough cut right now, so this is all a learning process.
One thing I might also suggest is giving out a sponsorship pitch. The comic shop, SciFiFX (if you actually have an online store). Ending pitch should be something like “If you like the show and want to keep up with other sci-fi related conversations then head to our website at http://www.scififx.com, and we hope to see you on the forums!” This is good so that people know you’re ending the show, thank the sponsor and you may find you could get more from doing so if people catch on. The abrupt cut off did leave me wanting more because it seemed like you all had a lot more to say. As I know you all personally I know all three of you could go for miles with it. To the listener that doesn’t know you, they’re going to be curious as to where more you could go with things.
Plug the forums big time! That way they can send suggestions, questions, and general comments about what they would like to hear you guys talk about! If you get fans of the program, they’re going to want to interact with you and get your attention. This was a good way to get your guys attention, but an email addy would be good to help out. Try getting one and then have someone check it daily and forward mails to the people that they’re specifically addressed to. Perhaps even set up seperate accounts specifically for the purpose of handling that.
I listen to quite a few casts a week, plus I’ve done a lot of research into the idea. You guys definitely have a flow going here and a lot of what I’m saying is for a time when things start popping and getting bigger. Still, these are all things to consider. Podcasting isn’t as dead as some might think it to be. A lot of casters out there get invited to bigger events. This could go places if you so choose it. You 3 have personality enough to make it happen, and you don’t sound dead while talking, which helps in abundance.
Looking forward to the next episode guys!
Thanks! Your input is certainly appreciated. Excellent suggestions.
Very nice pilot podcast. Hope to see a lot more to come.
Now that I’m an official podcaster after this first episode, lemme say thanks! Hope you enjoy the show!
